1. Overview

MathWiz (“we”, “our”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account information: name, email address, and password (stored as a salted hash)
  • Math problems you submit, including photos you upload
  • Payment information — processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number

Information collected automatically

  • Log data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps
  • Device information: operating system, screen size, and locale
  • Usage data: which features you use and how often

OAuth sign-in

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. We do not receive or store your Google password.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide the Service — generating math solutions and displaying your history
  • To manage your account and subscription
  • To process payments through Stripe
  • To send transactional emails (account confirmation, billing receipts, password reset)
  • To monitor and improve the reliability and quality of the Service
  • To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your submitted math problems to train AI models without your explicit consent.

4. AI Processing

Math problems you submit are sent to Anthropic’s Claude API for processing. Anthropic processes this data according to their own privacy and data handling policies. We transmit only the problem text or image — we do not include your name, email, or other personal identifiers in API requests.

5. Data Sharing

We share your information only with:

  • Stripe— payment processing. Stripe’s privacy policy governs their use of your payment data.
  • Anthropic — AI inference for solving math problems.
  • Infrastructure providers — hosting, databases, and CDN services that operate under data processing agreements with us.
  • Law enforcement — when required by a valid legal process or to protect the safety of users and the public.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data and solution history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we anonymise your personal information within 30 days and delete solution history within 90 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., financial records).

7. Cookies and Tracking

We use session cookies required for authentication. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking technologies. You can configure your browser to block cookies, but doing so may prevent you from signing in.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including TLS encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls on our infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure — if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at help@mathwiz.io.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data (available directly in Settings → Danger Zone)
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format

11. International Transfers

MathWiz operates in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the US, your information may be transferred to and processed in the US. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by a notice in the app before the changes take effect. The effective date at the top of this page reflects when the current version was last revised.
